Foreword
I have recently eome to know of Samkhya Tattva Manoranaa
written by Dr. DIna Math Pandey, I find that this work is an
original contribution to the interpretation of the Samkhya. It
attempts to trace the origin of Samkhya in the Rig Veda and the
author has attempted to bring out the real import of the Samkhya
vision of the universe and its problems particularly the problem
of suffering. The book is based on authoritative quotations from
the Veda and several other books related to Indian Philosophy
and history.
I have also had an opportunity of a long discussion with
Dr. Pandey and I find that he has a deep knowledge of the Indian
traditions and is able to sustain his point of view at very deep
levels of discussion. His interpretation of the Samkhya deserves to
be studied by all who are interested in developing the Indian
Philosophical thought in the light of the latest research. I have
come to acknowledge the scholarship of Dr. Pandey and feel that
his services should be utilised in any first rate university of the
word in the department of Indian Philosophy or Indology.

Dr. Dina Nath Pandey, one of the most distinguished students
of this department has written a book 'Samkhya Tattva Manorama.'
Dr. Pandey is an authority on the Samkhya Philosophy. I unhesi-
tatingly recommend the work to all those, who would like to know
more about Samkhya Philosophy. N. S. S. &aman
Prof & Head Philosophy (B. H. U.)
I have gone through 'Samkhya Tattva Manorama" written by
Dr. D. N. Pandey and found it an authoritative workd on the
ancdient Samkhya Philosophy. Dr Pandey has traced its history
to the Rigved and discovered the correct meanings of a hundred
cencepts, which were misinterpreted by almost all the commentators
of Samkhya Karika. His work is undoubtedly an important piece
of research. S. L. Pandey
Prof. & Head Philosophy ( Allahabad )
Dr. Dina Nath Pandey has done remarkable work ia the area
of Samkhya Philosophy. He has brought out a learned and scho-
larly publication under the name of 'Samkhya-Tattva Manorama*
He is an erudite scholar and deserves encouragement.
