"Biblical Principles Of Money Management"
Matthew 25
Biblical principles of money management:
1. God owns it aN.
God has a right to do whatever He wants with the possessions that He's given me.
Principle: the owner has the rights and the steward has the responsibilities .
God has given me the resources to accomplish His goals.
Principle: Stewardship is the use of God-given resources for the accomplishment of God-
given goals .
2. Every spending decision is a spiritual decision.
"You can't fake stewardship. Your checkbook reveals all that you really believe about
stewardship. A life story could be written from a checkbook. It reflects your goals, priorities,
convictions, relationships and even the use of your time. A person who has been a Christian
even for a short time, can fake prayer, Bible study, evangelism and going to church and so on
but he can't fake what his checkbook reveals." Ron Blue
Money and possessions are very effective tools that God uses in our lives.
Money and possessions are very effective tests .
Principle: If I don't use it, I lose it.
Money and possessions are a very effective testimony that God uses.
3. The amount is not important.
4. Stewardship requires action .
Principle: What we do with what we have reveals our view of God.
Principle: One day God is going to do an audit of my giving.
Five Biblical reasons why every Christian should be a tither:
1. Obedience
"On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping
with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made." 1
Corinthians 16:2
"Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything." Genesis 14:20b
2. Honesty
"Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?' "In tithes and
offerings. You are under a curse -the whole nation of you- because you are robbing me."
Malachi 3:8, 9
3. Love
"If you love me you will keep my commandments." John 14:15
4. Gratitude
"How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call
on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people."
Psalms 116:12-14
5. Faith
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,
says the Lord almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so
much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." Malachi 3:10
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows
generously will also reap generously." 2 Corinthians 9:6
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that
you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8
My commitment to tithe is based upon the following truth:
God owns everything .
God expects me to tithe.
God promises to meet the needs of a faithful steward.
